LONG ISLAND SOD INSTALLATION SERVICES

We bring and install our own sod. Just have the area prepped and we will bring the sod and professionally lay it. We perform all cuts and clean up.

Prepped is a common term in the sod industry. It refers to the area being conditioned before the sod is laid on it. You cannot just mow your old grass down, or spray it with roundup. Either new screened topsoil is spread over the area (usually 3" minimum) or the existing soil is tilled to a 4-6" depth. Then the area is raked level and flattened. Laying sod is like installing carpet over a wood floor, you need a level base for best results. 

We are typically a week out on sod install orders. Sometimes sooner, but usually not longer.

Square footage is simply length times width. A measuring wheel is best for accurate results. We charge by the square foot, so if you tell us it's about 30,000 square feet and ends up being 31,200 we would charge the additional square footage at the same quoted rate. 

Water is the most important thing that new sod needs. The roots are cut when it is harvested and needs water to help establish itself. 

All sod installs are different. We provide custom quotes based on the quantity and access. Often we don't see the site until the day of and everything is done over the phone. Clients often send us pictures if they are unsure if the prep is sufficient. For larger jobs we can meet in person with proper notice.
